Emerald and Wax is borne out of my passion for African wax prints. These wax prints are a little piece of my Ghana. A bit of my childhood that I carry with me always. I draw on this Ghanaian upbringing to bring the art and colour of traditional wax prints to European design, delivering what I like to describe as wearable art.
During my time in New York, I grew to love Japanese design and this forms a strong presence in my current collection. By combining these Japanese design elements with the unique wax print fabrics, each piece becomes a bespoke and original, wearable work of art.
Based in Galway on the West Coast of Ireland, I am driven to design and produce each garment so that it is the essence of the Emerald & Wax brand. Available online and in selected designer outlets, my collections are extremely wearable and add both colour and style to any capsule wardrobe.
Separates, simple shift dresses, and coats combine easily with simple black, chunky knits and boots for winter but can easily be incorporated into your wardrobe all year round.
I know I’m in my happy place at the end of the day when the day is done, kids are fed and happy and I am setting down with my sketchbook or at my cutting table creating wearable art one bespoke piece at a time.
