Proud to Be a Dubliner! Pride Parade Brings Out the Masses

The Dublin Pride festivities were in full swing this weekend, with preceding events leading up to Saturday’s parade. A rainbow of characters floated through the streets, over the River Liffey and eventually ending in Merrion Square for a concert and fun in the park for people of all ages. Tens of thousands came out to support and celebrate the first pride event after the legalization of same-sex marriage in Ireland.

Some of the events held prior to the parade included gatherings and workshops to support the LGBTQ community, picnics, film screenings and live drama performances, drag shows, and lots of partying beginning two weeks before this weekends climactic parade gathering.

On parade day there was nothing short of good spirits in the air, and the party didn’t stop until the wee hours of the morning. The Temple Bar was bustling, the horse drawn carriages boasted rainbow colored leis, and the crowds were singing and dancing in the streets wherever they went. What a day to be in Dublin!
